Every cosplay I do is a project. And every time, in addition to creating a costume and making a skit, I set myself a challenge. It could be creating a dragon in 14 days, or learning how to do cartwheels and butterfly tricks, designing and printing masks on a 3D printer, or learning archery.
This approach will give you the magic kick of self-improvement and the courage to try something new. If you feel like you don't know something or you are missing an element for a skit, ask a professional for help. I learned how to do acrobatic stunts for a tekken project from a Capoera teacher. To get a realistic severed arm, I turned to professionals who do special effects for movies. A perfect hand would have been expensive, but they were able to help me by finding five fingers. All of them were different, and had defects, since they were used as props for other things, but the price was much more affordable.
Not only will you learn something new, but you'll also make friends in completely different fields.
One of the underrated aspects of the cosplay process.
